Hope that everyone had a pleasant spring break holiday!
RCPO & CPA Volunteer Appreciation Dinner Social
It has been a while since we have gotten together as a group. So, we are holding a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner event on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Radnor Township Municipal Building in the Radnorshire Room from 6pm until 10pm.
This will be a great opportunity to gather together and have a chat, check in on each other, and hear about what is going on with everyone.
We will have plenty of appetizers, food, desserts and beverages for all to enjoy!
Sgt. Brady McHale will be there. We will also have Danielle Koerner, Deputy Chief, Special Operations, Department of Emergency Services to speak about Citizen Corps and Medical Reserve Corps in Delaware County. I know many of you may already be involved with CCDC, MRC and CERT, so this will be a wonderful opportunity to learn where the groups have been and where they are headed. As you may or may not know, CCDC & MRC, under DES direction, was heavily involved with the COVID-19 response throughout the pandemic. This includes running many VPODs (vaccination points of dispensing) throughout Delaware County, including ones at Penn Medicine in Radnor, Radnor High School, and the Radnor Township Building.
There will also be volunteers from CCDC, MRC, along with Delco ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) and DelCART (Delaware County Animal Response Team) to mingle with and find out more about what they do in Delaware County.
We plan on a relaxing evening with some old and new friends and acquaintances. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Possible Fall CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Class
Delaware County Citizen Corps is looking to hold a CERT class again, possibly in the summer/fall of 2023. I know a number of RCPO volunteers already assist with CCDC, MRC and/or CERT, but if you don't and are interested this is a great opportunity to jump in. You do not have to actively volunteer after taking the class, it is intended to prepare members of the community to assist their neighbors during a disaster situation.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
We currently have someone taking train the trainer CERT classes and will let you know as soon as this class is scheduled and available.
